The Balearic Islands, Alicante, Malaga and Girona are positioned among the main tourist destinations of European travelers, according to the HomeAway vacation rental platform that has carried out an analysis to know which have been the most popular national and international destinations for their European users during the months Of summer.
Spain stands out as one of the main tourist destinations for both national and international travelers of the HomeAway vacation rental platform that places the municipality of Faro (Portugal) as the favorite to travel for European users this summer.
In the ten most demanded destinations, the Balearic Islands sneak in second place, Alicante and Malaga in fourth and fifth, respectively, as well as Girona in tenth. Among the destinations is also Var (France) in the third position, Finistere (France) in the sixth, Vorpommern-Ruegen (Germany) in the seventh, Cornwall, United Kingdom in the eighth, and Charente-Maritime, France in the ninth .
The study also indicates that the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Portugal and Germany have Spain among their favorites. For their part, French users have chosen Girona, Alicante and the Balearic Islands to spend their holidays; while English travelers have focused on the Balearic Islands, Malaga and Alicante; German users in the Balearic Islands, Girona and Malaga; the Italians in the Balearic Islands, Barcelona and Las Palmas; and, finally, the Portuguese, in Huelva, Malaga and the Balearic Islands.
THE MEDITERRANEAN COAST, CHOSEN BY NATIONAL TRAVELERS
National users of the platform, unlike European neighbors, have a preference for destinations in their own country to enjoy their summer vacations.
The Mediterranean coast takes the classification and makes it clear that national platform travelers have a predilection for sun and beach destinations. Specifically, among the ten most demanded destinations in the summer, the Mediterranean coast has nine provinces: Alicante, Malaga, Cádiz, Baleares, Almería, Girona, Tarragona, Valencia and Murcia (in this order). Asturias is the only non-Mediterranean in the classification.
Finally, the data analyzed also reveal that Spain is one of the preferred destinations for groups of four people (families or friends) among Europeans. In the ‘top 10’, the Balearic Islands, Alicante (third), Malaga (fifth place) and Girona sixth.
